Burundi's Foreign Minister Meets with Cuban . Party Officials
Cuban party leader Fernando Remirez de Estenoz highlighted the existing ties of friendship between the island and the Southeast African nation.
The party official said the Cuban and Burundi people have come together in recent history and in different international forums, as he thanked Burundi for its stand against Washington's blockade of the island.
Minister Sinunguruza, for his part, thanked Cuba for its continued cooperation in different fields.
Having established diplomatic relations February 2, 1974, Cuba and the Republic of Burundi have cooperated in several areas. Currently, Cuba is hosting numbers of Burundi youth studying on the island, and Cuba has a medical contingent lending services to the African nation.
Landlocked and with over six million inhabitants, the former Belgian colony is one of the poorest nations in Africa.
