According to a survey among 200 foreign vacationers, 40 percent said that the weather was the main factor, while 30 percent noted the high quality of cultural options in the city.

Other reasons why respondents traveled to Santiago de Cuba were its warm people, landscapes and culture in general (44 percent).

Most visitors learned about the city through travel agencies and publications specialized in tourism.

Santiago de Cuba's cultural options include the open-air shows at the Tropicana Santiago Cabaret, Casa de los Dos Abuelos, activities at the Caribbean House, and dance music at Casa de las Tradiciones.

By countries, the survey included 75 vacationers from Italy, 49 from France, 21 from Spain, 24 from Canada, 10 from Germany and the rest from other countries.
