Annual Award to Cuba's Best Book Approved
Officials from that institution said that the award would consist of a silver medal that will be created and donated by the Office of Havana's Historian.
The initiative is part of the program of the Academy, which expects to revive the collection of Cuban classics, in coordination with the Book Institute.
In addition, it will also consider proposals to appoint honorary academicians from other countries who are closely linked to Cuban culture.
The Academy, said the experts, must also be an institution for cultural promotion on the Caribbean Island.
Recently, novelist, essayist and journalist Lisandro Otero was elected president of the Cuban Academy of the Language, replacing the renowned intellectual Salvador Bueno.
