Actions in Favor of Surgery in Cuba
The facility, the first of its kind on the Caribbean Island, is located at the "Calixto García" Teaching Hospital in Havana.
The initiative resulted from a joint project between the Medical School at the University of Tübingen, Germany, and the University of Medical Sciences in Havana.
That way, the institution will train Cuban experts to use that modern surgical procedure under the guidance of German surgeons.
Endoscopic surgery, also known as minimal-access surgery, reduces the patients' stay at hospitals.
It also reduces complications during surgery, speeds up recovery and is low-cost.
